PARADISUS BY MELIA EVENT IN BERLIN:

The present work is the product of a succession of events aiming to close a temporal cycle. Based on the colour studies produced two years ago at the Colour Observatorium artist residency in Lanzarote, this work reflects the combination of the island colours with the technique and medium that the artist has been exploring during the past months. The piece was executed for the Colour Observatorium exhibition at the Paradisus by Meliá event in Berlin on 8 March 2023.

BASED ON THE PROJECT COLOUR OBSERVATORIUM:

Landscape-abstract research on astronomical sanctuaries. Collection of 10 pieces based on 10 locations on the island of Lanzarote.

In January of 2021 a magnificent cosmic alignment took place in Lanzarote, the artist attended an artist residency at the Melia Salinas Hotel and portrait the Island from their Pop-up atelier at the recognized historic building by Fernando Higueras and Cesar Manrique.

The artist portrayed Lanzarote by selecting ten locations, enchanted by the colours or the magic that prevails, as some of them were witness of the existence of ancient astronomicalobservatories.

LOS CHARCONES

Caminé en busca de los charcones, joya oculta de Lanzarote. Caminé en busca del turquesa. Primer día y primera localización, preferí empezar sintiéndome cómoda en mi medio, en las gamas de azules. Cuando el sol lo permitía y dejaba de esconderse tras las nubes, se podía ver el turquesa del fondo de los charcones, la caminata mereció la pena. 13.01.21.Lu ̈

EL QUEMAO:

"La Ola de la Santa, fenómeno al que peregrinan surferos tamañeros, capricho de la luna, de las mareas. La artista esperó a que las condiciones de marea y luna fueran óptimas para su observación y a la llamada de la creatividad lunar también acudieron aquellos que tenían el valor de subirse a la ola del Quemao. Al terminar las piezas y cuando el sol se puso en el oeste, en ese preciso momento una luna de tamaño descomunal se abría paso en el horizonte del lado opuesto. 28.01.21.Ju ̈
